Temple Adornment, Issue 1 is the first volume in a remarkable annual journal series that explores contemporary tattooing and spirituality, published by Provider Press.
This 150-page limited edition 8"x10" softcover collects candid conversations with preeminent tattooers—Joe Nickley, Cole Dunn, Erik Von Bartholomaus, and Ivan Soyars—who work within and uniquely push forward the Americana tattoo tradition. This heuristic discourse examines tattooing beyond process and decoration, and alongside religion, mysticism, sacred symbolism, spiritual practice, anthropology, history, and culture. It includes a rich collection of works by these tattooers, and essays by the editor discussing the timeless aesthetics of transcendence, spiritual development, and tattoo. Each book is hand-numbered (of 300 total) and marked with a wooden stamp used as a tattoo stencil, from Varanasi, India.
